Refrigerant Lines Under Left Headlamp From Inner Heat Exchanger Line

Refrigerant Lines Under Left Headlamp From Inner Heat Exchanger Line

Danger of damaging vehicle parts when disengaging the quick-release couplings.

The fender or the refrigerant line with the inner heat exchanger can be damaged when disengaging the refrigerant lines.

First disengage the refrigerant line from the O-ring seal and then carefully remove it from the connection.

Removing

- Switch off the ignition.

- Drain the refrigerant circuit.

- Remove the front left wheelhouse liner.

- Clean refrigerant lines - A - and - B -, which are disengaged from the quick-release couplings at inner heat exchanger - E -, in the area of the quick-release couplings.

To prevent damage to the refrigerant line with inner heat exchanger - E - during removal of refrigerant lines - C - and - D -, disengage bracket - G - only after the refrigerant lines have been removed.

Loosen the connection at the quick-release couplings with the release tool for air refrigerant lines (T40149).

- Coat refrigerant lines - C - and - D - in the area of quick-release couplings - A - and - B - with a silicone-free lubricant.

The refrigerant lines adhere to the O-ring when the A/C is used; loosen the O-ring before mounting the release tool for air conditioner couplings, for example by pulling and pushing the refrigerant lines; never twist the refrigerant lines.

- Press refrigerant lines - C - and - D - by hand all the way into quick-release couplings - A - and - B -.

- Connect the release tool for refrigerant lines (T40149/1) - G - to refrigerant line - C - all the way. This expands the retaining ring (you should hear and feel the retaining ring open).

- Use the release tool for refrigerant lines - G - to pull refrigerant line - C - from quick-release coupling - A - at the refrigerant line with inner heat exchanger - E -.

- Connect the release tool for refrigerant lines (T40149/2) - G - to refrigerant line - D - all the way. This expands the retaining ring (you should hear and feel the retaining ring open).

- Use the release tool for refrigerant lines - G - to pull refrigerant line - D - from quick-release coupling - A - at the refrigerant line with inner heat exchanger - E -.

If the refrigerant lines cannot be pulled out or pushed in, then never twist them in the connector piece - C -.

In this case quick-release couplings - A - or - B - must be disconnected for example with the disassembly tool (T40232).

- Seal off the open pipes and connections on the refrigerant pipe with caps to keep dirt and humidity from getting in.

Loosen the connection on the quick-coupling connections using the disassembly tool (T40232).

- Mount the disassembly tool - C - on the quick-couplings - A - or - B - and separate the coupling 3 times.

Be careful not to damage the connection on the inner heat exchanger - G - and the refrigerant pipes - E - and - F - when separating the quick-coupling - A - and - B -.

Insert the cutter on the disassembly tool - C - into the quick-coupling until it audibly breaks the cut location.

- Carefully bend open the cut quick-coupling - A - or - B - (being careful not to damage the refrigerant pipe) and remove the ring - D -.

- Spray the refrigerant pipes near the opened quick-coupling with a silicone-free lubricant.

The refrigerant pipes stick to the O-ring when the A/C is working. Pulling and pushing the refrigerant pipe after spraying the lubricant can loosen the pipe from the O-ring making it easier to remove. Never rotate refrigerant pipes.

- Remove the refrigerant pipe - E - and - F - from the connection.

- Seal off the open pipes and connections on the refrigerant pipe with caps to keep dirt and humidity from getting in.
