- Remove the lower part of right air duct - C - for the air intake of the engine.

- Remove plastic bolt - A - (tightening torque: 2 Nm).

- Pull filter element - C - with dryer cartridge - F - upward out of fluid reservoir - G - of the condenser.

- Close the open connection on fluid reservoir - B - of the condenser.

Seal the open connection on fluid reservoir - B - of the condenser with plastic screw - A - (to prevent dirt and moisture from getting in).

Installing

There are different versions of the condenser and dryer cartridge - F - installed therein. Pay attention to the correct allocation using Electronic Parts Catalog.

Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following:

Check the fluid reservoir on the condenser above opening - G - for dirt.

Make sure the thread in connection - G - in the fluid reservoir on the condenser is not dirty or damaged.

Replace plastic screw - A -, filter element - C - (with tube - E -) and both O-ring seals - B - and - D - (included in the delivery of the dryer. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog).

Coat O-ring seals - B - and - D - lightly with refrigerant oil prior to installation, refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit O-rings ] Refrigerant Circuit O-rings.

Make sure O-ring seals - B - and - D - are seated correctly in the groove of the respective component.

Keep dryer cartridge - F - sealed in its air-tight package as long as possible. Open the package just before installing the dryer cartridge in the fluid reservoir of the condenser. The dryer cartridge absorbs moisture in a very short time and become unusable.

- Take dryer cartridge - F - out of the original package and attach it to the hooks of filter element - C -.

- Install dryer cartridge - F - together with filter element - C - (and tube - E -) in the fluid reservoir of the condenser.

- Install plastic bolt - A - (tightening specification: 2 Nm).

- Evacuate and fill the refrigerant circuit.

- Install the remaining removed components.

- Check the event memory of the Climatronic control module (J255) , and erase any displayed malfunctions using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit, refer to => [ A/C System Operating After Filling Refrigerant Circuit ] A/C System Operating After Filling Refrigerant Circuit.

Note the information regarding operating the A/C system after filling.
