Left and Right Peripheral Camera (R244)/(R245), Calibrating

Left and Right Peripheral Camera (R244)/(R245), Calibrating

The left peripheral camera (R244) / right peripheral camera (R245) are installed inside the left and right exterior mirrors.

The following describes calibrating the left peripheral camera. Calibrating the right peripheral camera is identical.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Calibration Device (VAS 6350)

Calibration Device For Area Scan Camera (VAS 6350/6)

Vehicle Diagnostic Tester

30 Piece Socket Set (VAS 5451)

1/4 " Fine Toothed Ratchet (VAS 5451/1)

- Set-up requirements, refer to => [ Calibration Requirements ] General Information.

- Calibration Device for Area Scan Camera (VAS 6350/6) , installing and aligning, refer to => [ Calibration Device For Area Scan Camera, Installing and Aligning ] Calibration Device For Area Scan Camera (VAS6350/6), Installing and Aligning.

- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

Setting Up The Calibration Device

Attach the wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1) :

- Check the dimension of the holes.

- Install the wheel bolt adapters (VAS 6350/1).

- To do so, secure three wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1) in the hole circle to each wheel pick-up.

- Attach the paddle to a wheel pick-up (VAS 6350/1) and secure it with clamping screw.

- Place the wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1) on the wheel bolts on the left front wheel.

The wheel center sensors (VAS 6350/1) are positioned by the "O-rings" in the adapters and held in place.

Mount the wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1) on the wheel so that if the wheel has "anti-theft" wheel bolts, they do not contact the wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1).

- Position the (VAS 6350/6) - 4 - next to the vehicle.

- Adjust the paddle - 2 - using the clamping screw so that it is just above the (VAS 6350/6) - 4 - and so that it can move freely.

Installing the line laser (VAS 6350/3) :

- Attach the guide bolt (VAS 6350/6-5) - 2 - all the way to the left rear wheel using a 1/4 fine toothed ratchet and then install the line laser mount (VAS 6350/6-6) and line laser (VAS 6350/3) - 1 -.

- Adjust the line laser mount (VAS 6350/6-6) and the line laser (VAS 6350/3) on the guide pin (VAS 6350/6-5) so that the outer edge of the guide pin (VAS 6350/6-5) is flush with the outer edge of the laser housing - arrow - and then tighten the clamping lever.

Calibration device for peripheral camera (VAS 6350/6) alignment

- Turn on the line laser (VAS 6350/3) - 3 - and point the laser beam forward toward the wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1) - 2 - so that there is a line on the calibration device for area scan camera (VAS 6350/6) - 4 -.

- Set up the (VAS 6350/6) - 4 - so that the outer side of the black line on the (VAS 6350/6) - 4 - is exactly on the laser beam.

- Line up the (VAS 6350/6) - 4 - with the outside of the black line - 1 - on the (VAS 6350/6) - 4 - so that it lines up exactly with the free-hanging paddle on the wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1) - 2 -.

- Move the (VAS 6350/6) in a horizontal position.

- To do so, twist plastic feet under the plates under the (VAS 6350/6) so that air bubble in level is located exactly in the center of the indicator - arrow -.

Make sure light does not reflect off the calibration device for area scan camera (VAS 6350/6).

Reflections affect the camera and may make it impossible to perform the calibration.

Dimension measurement - h -:

- Measure the height of the (VAS 6350/6) - 2 -, dimension - h -, from the surface of the (VAS 6350/6) - 2 - (not of the aluminum frame) to the floor. Measure the hole in the (VAS 6350/6) - 2 -.

Make sure the spacing laser (VAS 6350/2) - 1 - is adjusted correctly.

The measured dimension - h - must be entered into the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "millimeters".

Performing calibration

Vehicle Diagnostic Tester is attached.

- Select Guided Fault Finding.

- Select "vehicle selection" from the menu for the corresponding vehicle data.

- Using the GO TO button, select the following menu points:

Select Function/Component Selection

Body

Electrical Equipment

01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems

6C - peripheral camera control module/ J928

6C - peripheral camera control module, functions

6C - Calibration, (Repair Group 91)

The Vehicle Diagnostic Tester continues with the calibrating procedure from here on.

Make sure light does not reflect off the calibration device for area scan camera (VAS 6350/6).

Reflections affect the camera and may make it impossible to perform the calibration.
