Shift Mechanism Emergency Release

The selector lever will not move out of "P" if the battery is disconnected or is discharged. The vehicle cannot be moved or towed.

The shift lock solenoid (N110) will cancel out the lock when the emergency release is activated.

Procedure






- Remove the front ashtray insert.

- Pry off the cap in the ashtray housing with a screwdriver - arrow -.

The shape of the cap may vary from the illustration.

- Carefully press on the shift lock solenoid through the center opening in the ashtray housing in the cylinder - arrow - with a screwdriver, and at the same time, while the locking button is pressed down, shift the selector lever out of position "P".






This unlocks the locking lever - 1 - when the selector lever is in "P".

If the cylinder - arrow - on the shift lock solenoid is covered by insulation or a wire, then move the insulation or the wire to the side.
