Oil Pump, through VIN CAU 003 685

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)

Long Nose Grip Pliers (VAS 6226)

Removing






- Remove the coolant pump. Refer to => [ Coolant Pump ] Service and Repair.

- Remove the lower oil pan. Refer to => [ Lower Oil Pan ] Lower Oil Pan.

- Remove the coolant pump input shaft - arrow - from the oil pump.

- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the engine and leave it there for the following steps.






Oil escapes when removing oil pipes.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the oil tube.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the intake tube.






Oil escapes when removing oil pipes.






Remove the oil tube together with the oil check valve housing.

- Press back driveshaft - 1 - for oil pump against spring force and clamp tightly using (VAS 6226).






- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the oil pump.






Installing

For the correct tightening specifications, refer to => [ Oil Pump and Lower Oil Pan Overview ] Oil Pump and Lower Oil Pan Overview.

Replace sealing rings and O-rings.

- Check if both alignment bushings for centering are in the cylinder block.

- Tighten the oil pump - arrows -.

- Unlock the (VAS 6226) and let the driveshaft - 1 - slide into the oil pump.






- Check if the driveshaft is friction locked to the oil pump by reaching into the oil pump intake opening - arrow - and trying to turn the pump gears.






Toothed gears must not be able to be rotated.

Install in reverse order of removal paying attention to the following:

- Install the coolant pump => [ Coolant Pump ] Service and Repair.

- Install lower oil pan. Refer to => [ Lower Oil Pan ] Lower Oil Pan.

- Fill the engine with oil and check oil level.

- Fill the coolant system => [ Filling ] Service and Repair.
