Rearview Camera (R189), Calibrating
Rearview Camera (R189), Calibrating
- Set-up requirements => [ Calibration Requirements ] General Information.
- Connect the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
Attach the wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1) :
- Check which hole circle the rims have.
- Install the wheel bolt adapters (VAS 6350/1).
- To do so, secure three wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1) in the hole circle to each wheel pick-up.
- Attach paddles to both wheel pick-ups (VAS 6350/1) and secure them with clamping screw.
- Place Wheel Center Sensor (VAS 6350/1) on wheel bolts on rear wheels.
The wheel center sensors (VAS 6350/1) are positioned by the "O-rings" in the adapters and held in place.
• Mount the wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1) on the wheel so that if the wheel has "anti-theft" wheel bolts, they do not contact the wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1).
- Adjust paddle with aid of clamping screws so that they move freely just above the floor. Make sure the paddles move easily.
- Install the calibration device (VAS 6350/4) and align it to them. Refer to => [ Calibration Device, Mounting and Adjusting ] Calibration Device (VAS 6350/4), Mounting and Adjusting.
Distance measurement:
- Turn on the spacing laser (VAS 6350/2) with the ON button.
The following display appears and the spacing laser (VAS 6350/2) turns on.
- Hold the distance laser (VAS 6350/2) - 2 - flush in the bracket on one side of the calibration tool for lane changing assist (VAS 6350/4). The distance laser (VAS 6350/2) - 2 - must sit securely on the bracket.
- Make sure that laser beam from Distance Laser (VAS 6350/2) - 2 - hits lower, enlarged part of paddle - 1 -.
If this is not the case, then the paddle must be corrected accordingly via the screws on the wheel center sensor (VAS 6350/1).
- With one hand, firmly hold the spacing laser (VAS 6350/2) in the bracket on the calibration tool for lane changing assist (VAS 6350/4) while the laser beam is visible on the paddle.
- Briefly press ON button for distance measurement.
Display readout
- Note the value read off.
- Repeat measuring procedure in the same manner for the other rear wheel on the other side of the calibration tool for lane changing assist (VAS 6350/4).
The distance value must be the same on both sides.
If values are not identical:
- Adjust the calibration tool for lane changing assist (VAS 6350/4) until values on both sides are identical.
When aligning the calibration tool for lane changing assist (VAS 6350/4) make sure the line laser (VAS 6350/3) from the calibration tool for lane changing assist (VAS 6350/4) still strikes the center of the Audi rings and the indicator of the level remains centered. If necessary, make further corrections.
Dimension measurement - H -:
- Measure the height of the calibration tool for lane changing assist (VAS 6350/4) , dimension - H - (top edge platform - floor).
Enter the height and distance dimensions into the Vehicle diagnostic tester in "millimeters".
Performing Calibration
Vehicle diagnostic tester is attached.
- Select Guided Fault Finding.
- Select "vehicle selection" from the menu for the corresponding vehicle data.
- Using the GO TO button, select the following menu points:
• Select Function/Component Selection
• Body
• Electrical Equipment
• 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems
• 6C - rearview camera system/J772
• 6C - rearview camera system control module, functions
• 6C - Calibration
The Vehicle diagnostic tester continues with the calibrating procedure from here on.
Make sure light does not reflect off the calibration platform.
Reflections affect the rear view camera (R189) and may make it impossible to perform the calibration.
