Torque Converter Shaft Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Extractor Lever (VW 681)

• Thrust Piece (3295)

Procedure






• Transmission removed.

- Carefully remove the torque converter.

- Insert (VW 681) directly behind the sealing lip of the sealing ring, so that the contact ring which is behind it is not damaged.

- Remove the torque converter shaft seal with (VW 681).

- Coat the outer circumference and the sealing lips - arrow - on the new shaft seal with ATF.






Installed position:

• Open side of shaft seal faces transmission.

- Use (3295) to drive in torque converter shaft seal as far as thrust piece stop.
