Upper B-Pillar Trim

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Trim removal wedge (3409)

Removing






Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Description and Operation.

- Remove the front belt anchor. Refer to => [ Front Belt End Fitting ] Front Belt End Fitting.

- Remove the B-pillar lower trim. Refer to => [ Lower B-Pillar Trim ] Lower B-Pillar Trim.

- Move seat belt height adjuster to the lowest position.

- Remove the A-pillar trim on the transition to the B-pillar trim and push upward slightly. Refer to=> [ A-Pillar Upper Trim ] A-Pillar Upper Trim.

- Remove the clip for the head curtain airbag - 2 - from the B-pillar trim - 1 -.

- Remove the nuts - 2 and 3 -.






- Remove upper B-pillar trim - 1 - from B-pillar - arrows A - and detach from threaded pins by inserting trim removal wedge (3409) in the lower edge of the trim.

- Disconnect electrical harness connector for vent.

- Remove the upper B-pillar trim from the bracket on the body - arrow B - by moving the trim toward the inside and pulling it downward at the same time.

- Guide the belt webbing with belt tongue out through the slide for the seat belt height adjuster, and then remove the upper B-pillar trim.

Installing

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Description and Operation.

• Do not pinch the head curtain airbag when installing the B-pillar trim.

- Guide the belt webbing and seat belt latch in through the slide for the seat belt height adjuster.

• Ensure that the seat belt height adjuster is in the lowest position.

- First, insert the B-pillar trim - 3 - upward into the mount on the roof.






• The mount - 2 - for the sliding piece of the B-pillar upper trim must engage in the retaining pin - 1 - on the seat belt height adjuster - arrow -.

- Position the B-pillar rear trim - 1 - on the B-pillar so that the vent - 2 - locks into the air duct - 3 - - arrow -.






- Install the rear - arrow A - and front - arrow B - B-pillar trim.

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Stretch the door seal lips over the trim.
