Windshield Assembly Overview
• Calibrate the camera if the windshield was replaced on a vehicle with lane assist.
• The windshield projection head up display control module (J898) must be calibrated if the windshield on a vehicle with windshield projection is replaced.
1 Windshield
• Two left and right locking pins at the top of the windshield will get cut during the removal.
• These pins are not needed when installing the windshield again.
• Use adhesive tape to keep the windshield from falling out when installing it.
Disconnect the battery before removing a windshield with heating.
• Distance to roof dimension - a - = 2 mm.
• Align the side distance - c -.
2 Adhesive sealing material
• Observe minimum curing time => [ Minimum Curing Times ] Minimum Curing Times.
• Dimension - b -= 15 mm +/- 2 mm
• Dimension - D - = 8 mm +/- 2 mm
3 Plenum chamber cover
• Press into retaining strip only after window adhesive minimum curing time is complete (3 hours).
4 Plenum chamber cover molding
• No replacement part
• With a new window, protective piping must first be removed before installing plenum chamber cover.
5 Gap Cover
• The cutting wire must be laid under the gap cover.
• Replacing, refer to => [ Cover Profile ] Cover Profile
6 Drip rail
Heated windshield control module (J505)
- The heated windshield control module (J505) is located inside the spare wheel well on the left side.
Disconnect the battery before removing.
- Open the cover and remove the nuts from the connections.
- Disconnect the connector from the heated windshield control module (J505).
- Tighten the nuts to 7.5 Nm.
Water Deflector, Removing
1 Drip rail
• Remove from the guide rail starting from the bottom and working up.
• Press into the guide rail as far as the stop, beginning at the top and working toward the bottom.
• Check for flushness at the transition to the A-pillar.
2 Pop rivet
• quantity: 5
• Rivet the guide rails beginning at the top.
3 Guide rail
• The windshield is removed.
• To remove, drill out rivet heads - 4 - and drive out rivet shafts.
Removing protective tubing
- With a new windshield - 1 -, protective piping - 2 - must be removed from molding - 3 - before installing plenum chamber cover - 4 -.
