Shift Mechanism Emergency Release

When the battery is disconnected or has been discharged, the selector lever cannot be shifted out of the "P" position. The vehicle cannot be moved or towed.

By operating the manual release the Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) will release the selector lever when there is no power supply.

- Remove front ashtray insert.





- Pry cover cap in ashtray housing out with screwdriver - arrow -.

The shape of the cover caps may differ from the illustration.

- Press in cylinder - arrow - on Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) through center opening in ashtray housing, e.g. with a screwdriver, and at the same time, with button on selector lever pressed, shift selector lever out of "P" position.





In this way, the selector lever lock is released in position "P" via the locking lever - 1 -.

The cylinder - arrow - on Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) is sometimes partially covered with a noise insulation mat or a wire which must be pressed to side.
