Shift Mechanism Emergency Release
• When the battery is disconnected or has been discharged, the selector lever cannot be shifted out of the "P" position. The vehicle cannot be moved or towed.
• By operating the manual release the Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) will release the selector lever when there is no power supply.
- Remove front ashtray insert.
- Pry cover cap in ashtray housing out with screwdriver - arrow -.
• The shape of the cover caps may differ from the illustration.
- Press in cylinder - arrow - on Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) through center opening in ashtray housing, e.g. with a screwdriver, and at the same time, with button on selector lever pressed, shift selector lever out of "P" position.
• In this way, the selector lever lock is released in position "P" via the locking lever - 1 -.
• The cylinder - arrow - on Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) is sometimes partially covered with a noise insulation mat or a wire which must be pressed to side.
