Bearing D and E for Disc Set I

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Arbor 50 mm Dia. (VW 432)

• Drift Sleeve (3158)

• Sleeve (T40088/2) from Assembly Tool (T40088)

Removing

• Intermediate housing removed. Refer to => [ Chain and Disc Set I Overview ] Chain and Disc Set I Overview

- Place the intermediate housing on two wood supports - arrows - so as not to damage the selector shaft and the sealing surface.





- Remove the circlip - arrow -.





- Turn the intermediate housing.





- Remove bearing D and E for disc set I using (VW 432)- arrow -.

Installing

- Place the intermediate housing on two wood supports - arrows - so as not to damage the selector shaft and the sealing surface.





• When removing, the bearing E must always be replaced.

- Install the new bearing E (ball bearing for disc set I) - 1 - on the intermediate housing.





• The oil grooves in the outer bearing race face upward.

- Install bearing E (ball bearing for disc set I) using (T40088/2) from (T40088) and (3158) all the way in - arrow -.





- Install bearing D - 1 - (roller bearing for disc set I) in the intermediate housing.





• Installed position: printed side faces up.

• Depending on the version, different bearings are installed:





A Bearing D with inner race
B Bearing D without inner race

- Install bearing D (ball bearing for disc set I) using (T40088/2) from (T40088) and (3158) all the way in - arrow -.





- Install the circlip - arrow - and press it in further if necessary.
