Shifter M/T: Adjustments

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Rig Pin (3359)
The following points are essential to ensure correct shifter adjustment:
• Operating and transfer elements of shift mechanism must be in proper condition.
• Shift mechanism must move freely.
• The transmission, clutch and clutch mechanism must be in proper condition.
• Transmission in neutral position.
- Remove the air filter housing.
- Guide the Rig Pin (3359) through the selector shaft in the transmission housing - arrow -.
- Press the casings on the shift and selector cable forward as far as the stop - arrow 1 -.
- Turn sleeve to the right up to the stop - arrow 2 - so that it engages.
• The cables must slide in the cable retainer.
Align the shift lever as follows:
• The shift lever positions itself in the 3rd/4th gear selector gate.
- Align the shift lever so the distance to the shift lever guide - a - and - b - is even.
- Hold shift lever in this position.
A second technician is needed for the following work.
- Make sure that the selector and shift cable - B - are inserted free of tension in the retainer - A -.
- Loosen sleeve - arrow 1 -.
- Allow the sleeve to slide to the stop - arrow 2 -.
The cable is now adjusted.
- Remove the Rig Pin (3359) from the shift unit.
Shift lever adjustment, checking
• The shift lever must rest in the 3rd/4th gear selector lever gate when the transmission is in neutral.
- Operate the clutch.
- Shift through all the gears several times. Pay particular attention to the function of the reverse gear lock.
• The shift lever must move from the reverse gear selector lever gate into the 3rd/4th gear selector lever gate on its own.
If hooking occurs during repeated selection of a gear, the selector mechanism must be adjusted again.
