Old Transmission Version, Adjusting Transmission Fluid Level

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)

Procedure

There are differences between the old and new transmission versions. On the old transmission version, there is not an oil check plug - 1 - on the left side of the transmission.





Tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Oil Drain, Oil Fill and Oil Check Plug Assembly Overview ] Description and Operation

The fluid level in the old transmission version cannot be determined using a check plug.

The bolt - 2 - (if equipped) cannot be used as an inspection plug or a false reading will result.





The transmission oil must be drained completely and the specified quantity added.

Capacity and specification. Refer to => [ Transmission Capacities ]

- Place the Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782) underneath.

- Drain the transmission fluid at the fluid drain plug - 1 -.

- Install the oil drain plug - 1 -.

- Remove the air filter housing.





- Open the oil filler plug - arrow - and add the specified quantity of transmission oil. Capacities and specifications. Refer to => [ Transmission Capacities ] .
