Level Control System Sensor

Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B)

General Information

To function properly, electronically-controlled damping (Audi magnetic ride) requires information about the front and rear axle extension and compression.

For this, the position of the left/right track transverse link in relation to the body is transferred via a coupling rod to Left Front Level Control System Sensor (G78) and Right Front Level Control Sensor (G289). They transmit electrical signals to the electronic damping control module (J250).

At the rear axle, these signals from the left rear level control system sensor (G76) and the right rear level control system sensor (G77) are transmitted to the electronic damping control module.

These signals are required for determining vehicle level.

The control position must be programmed in vehicles with electronically controlled damping (Audi magnetic ride) if:

Installation work has been performed on the level control system sensor.

The transverse link was removed and installed.

Threaded connections - 3 - or - 4 - were loosened.

Vehicle level sensor is available as replacement part only complete with coupling rod and upper retaining plate.

- On vehicles with electronically-controlled damping (Audi magnetic ride), reprogram the control position using the (VAS 5051B).

Removing

- Disconnect the connector - 2 -.

- Remove the ball studs - 4 -.

- Remove bolts - 3 -.

- Remove level control system sensor - 1 -.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

Sensor lever must point outward.

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Upper Transverse Link with Retaining Bracket and Vehicle Level Control System Sensor Assembly Overview ] Upper Transverse Link With Retaining Bracket and Vehicle Level Control System Sensor Assembly Overview

- Readapt control position using the (VAS 5051B).

- Perform headlamp basic setting.
