Engine, Securing to Engine and Transmission Holder

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Lifting Tackle (3033)

Engine and Transmission Holder (VAS 6095) with Bracket for V10 5.2 Liter Engine on R8 (VAS 6095/1-10)

Shop Crane (VAS 6100)

Lift Arm Ext./Workshop Hoist (VAS 6101)

Additional Hooks (10 - 222 A /2)

Tension Strap (T10038)

Procedure

Engine/transmission assembly removed and separated on Scissor Lift Table (VAS 6131 A) => [ Engine and Transmission, Separating ] Engine and Transmission, Separating.

- Remove the left connectors from the bracket and disconnect them:





1. For oxygen sensor 2 after catalytic converter (G131)

2. For heated oxygen sensor 2 (G108)

- Remove the right connectors from the bracket and disconnect them:





1. For oxygen sensor after three way catalytic converter (G130)

2. For heated oxygen sensor (G39)

- Free up the wires to all oxygen sensors.

- Remove nuts - 6 through 1 - and the left exhaust manifold with catalytic converter.





- Remove nuts - 6 through 1 - and the right exhaust manifold with catalytic converter.





- Remove the bolts - arrows - and then remove the left heat shield.





- Repeat the procedure on the other side of the vehicle.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 - on the left electro-hydraulic engine mount solenoid valve (N144).





- Remove the bolt - 1 - and the left engine mount.

- Repeat the procedure on the other side of the vehicle.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - on the oil pump bracket and the bolts - arrows - and then remove the left engine support.





- Remove the clamp bolt - 1 -, then remove the bolts - arrows - and then remove the right engine support.





- Attach the (3033) with the (T10038) and the (10 - 222 A /2) to the engine lift eyes and to the (VAS 6100) with the (VAS 6101) as illustrated.





- Raise the engine off the (VAS 6131 A).

- Secure the engine and the (VAS 6095/1-10) to the (VAS 6095) to 42 Nm.
