Intake Manifold
1 Bolt, 9 Nm
2 Intake Flap Motor (V157)
• As a running change in MY 2009, the Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) valve is being installed in place of the intake flap motor - see the plastic intake manifold assembly overview. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold and Fuel Rail Assembly Overviews, with Plastic Manifold.
3 Bolt, 9 Nm
4 Variable Intake Manifold Runner Motor (V183)
• As a running change in MY 2009, the Intake manifold change over valve is being installed for the variable intake manifold runner motor - see the plastic intake manifold assembly overview. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold and Fuel Rail Assembly Overviews, with Plastic Manifold.
5 Circlip
6 Bolt, 2.5 Nm
7 Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor (G336)
• Cylinder bank 1.
• After replacing, perform "Adaptation" in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic, testing, and information system (VAS 5051B).
8 Gasket
• Replace if damaged.
• The open side faces the intake manifold runner position sensor.
9 Intake Manifold
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold and Injectors, with Magnesium Manifold.
10 O-ring
• Always replace.
11 Intake Manifold Support
12 Bolt, 9 Nm
13 Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)
• After replacing, perform "Adaptation" in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic, testing, and information system (VAS 5051B).
14 O-ring
• Always replace.
15 O-ring
• Always replace.
16 Bolt, 9 Nm
17 Crankcase Housing Ventilation Pressure Regulator Valve
18 Bracket
• For the vacuum hose.
19 Bolt, 9 Nm
20 Bolt, 9 Nm
21 Bolt
• Tightening specification and sequence, refer to => [ Intake Manifold Tightening Sequence ].
22 Intake Manifold Seals
• Always replace.
23 Gasket
• Replace if damaged.
• The open side faces the intake manifold runner position sensor 2.
24 Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor 2 (G512)
• Cylinder bank 2.
• After replacing, perform "Adaptation" in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic, testing, and information system (VAS 5051B).
25 Bolt, 2.5 Nm
26 Circlip
Intake Manifold Tightening Sequence
- Tighten the intake manifold bolts - 1 through 10 - in sequence.
• First tighten to 8 Nm.
• Second tighten to 9 Nm + 90° additional turn.
Fuel Rail and Injectors
1 Radial Adjustment
• Replace if damaged.
• Clip together with the support ring - item 6 -.
2 Combustion Chamber Seal
• Do not grease the ring or treat with any other lubricant.
• Always replace.
3 Fuel Injector
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Injectors ] Intake Manifold and Injectors, with Magnesium Manifold.
4 Spacer Ring
• Replace if damaged.
5 O-ring
• Always replace.
• Lubricate with clean engine oil.
6 Support Ring
• Always replace.
• The fuel rail wields force via the support ring to hold the fuel injector tightly in the cylinder head.
7 Fuel Rail
8 High Pressure Line, 25 Nm
CAUTION!
• Before opening the high pressure components of the fuel injection system, the pressure must be relieved to a residual pressure. Refer to => [ High Side Fuel Pressure, Reducing ] Service Precautions.
• Then wrap a clean cloth around the connection and relieve the residual pressure by carefully loosening the connection.
• Connectors should not show any signs of damage.
• Do not change the bend shape.
9 High Pressure Line, 25 Nm

• Tighten in a diagonal sequence and in steps.
