Engine Oil Cooler

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Used Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)

Drip Tray for Workshop Crane (VAS 6208)

Hose Clamps Up to 25 mm Diameter (3094)

Removing

Engine oil drained.

CAUTION!
Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.

When the engine is warm the cooling system is under pressure.

Reduce pressure by covering coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully opening.

- Open coolant reservoir cap.

Vehicles without the After-Run Coolant Pump (V51):

- Place (VAS 6208) under engine.

- Clamp off coolant hoses - 1 - and - 2 - with (3094).





Vehicles with the After-Run Coolant Pump (V51):

- Remove the After-Run Coolant Pump (V51). Refer to => [ After-Run Coolant Pump ] After-Run Coolant Pump.

All Vehicles

- Loosen the hose clamps and remove coolant hoses from the oil cooler.

- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the engine.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the engine oil cooler.

Installing

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Oil Pan Upper and Lower Sections, Oil Pump and Oil Cooler Assembly Overview ] Oil Pan Upper and Lower Sections, Oil Pump and Oil Cooler Assembly Overview.

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Replace the gaskets and seals.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate for the model.

- Fill engine oil and check oil level.

- Install After-Run Coolant Pump (V51). Refer to => [ After-Run Coolant Pump ] After-Run Coolant Pump.

- Fill with coolant => [ Check coolant level. ] Procedures.
