Ride Control Solenoid Valve: Service and Repair






Solenoid Valve Block

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1783)

Insert tool 10 (V.A.G 1783/1)

Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051 A)

Removing

The solenoid valve block is installed on the right side under the front bumper.

- Place the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.

- Perform system vent using (VAS 5051 A). Refer to => [ System, Venting or Filling ] System, Venting or Filling.

- Remove wheel trim cap, remove cover cap on light-alloy wheels (removal hook in vehicle tool kit).

- Remove the wheel.

- Remove noise insulation.

- Remove the front wheel housing liner.

- Disconnect connector - 1 -.






- Loosen air line - 1 - slowly to allow the air pressure to come down. After the air pressure has escaped, remove the air lines.

- Protect the air lines from contamination.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - and the solenoid valve block.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Insert the solenoid valve block.






- Install the bolts - 1 - and tighten. Refer to => [ Air Supply Unit and Solenoid Valve Block Assembly Overview ] Air Supply Unit and Solenoid Valve Block Assembly Overview.

- Connect the air line connections to the new solenoid valve block.

- Install air pipes - arrows - on solenoid valve block and tighten. Refer to => [ Tightening Specifications ] Air Supply Unit and Solenoid Valve Block Assembly Overview.






- Connect the connector - 1 -.

- Install wheel housing liner.

- Install noise insulation.

- Install wheel.

- Place vehicle on wheels. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.

- Tighten wheel.
