Front Coolant Pipe

Front Coolant Pipe

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Spanner Wrench (3212)

• Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)

Removing

- Remove ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

- Remove the left front coolant pipes. Refer to => [ Left Front Coolant Pipes ] Left Front Coolant Pipes.

- Remove vacuum pump.






- Remove the bolts - arrows -, remove the air guides - 1 - and - 2 -.






- Remove the bolts for the coolant pump ribbed belt pulley, using a (3212) to counterhold.






- Remove the ribbed belt pulley.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 - on the left electrohydraulic engine mount solenoid valve (N144).






• Ignore - arrows -.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 - for the wiring leading to the A/C compressor clutch solenoid.







Refrigerant can cause serious personal injury.

• Do not open the air conditioning refrigerant circuit.

- Remove A/C compressor bolts - arrows -.


Danger of damaging the refrigerant lines and hoses.

• Do not stretch, kink or bend refrigerant lines and hoses.

- Remove the A/C compressor from the bracket and move it to the side with the lines still connected.

- Loosen the hose clamp - 3 - and remove the left coolant pipe bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.






- Tip the coolant pump to the left slightly - arrow - and remove it from the upper coolant pipe.

- Remove the left front coolant hose in the engine compartment; to do this, lift the clips - arrows -.






- Remove the coolant hose - arrow - from the front coolant pipe by lifting the retaining clamp.






- Remove the bolt - arrow - and remove the left front coolant pipe bracket.






- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 - on the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor (G62).






- Remove the coolant hose; to do this, loosen the hose clamp - 1 -.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the upper coolant pipe.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Tightening specifications:

• => [ Coolant Pump, Coolant Thermostat and Connecting Piece Overview ] Coolant Pump, Coolant Thermostat and Connecting Piece Overview

• => [ Coolant Pipes Overview ] Coolant Pipes Overview

• Replace the gaskets and O-rings.

• Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate for the model.

- Clean or smooth O-rings sealing surface before installing.

- Coat the sealing rings and O-rings with coolant and then mount them on the coolant pipe.

- Install the left coolant pipes. Refer to => [ Left Coolant Pipes ] Left Coolant Pipes.

- Install A/C compressor.

- Install the vacuum pump.

- Install the left front coolant pipes. Refer to => [ Left Front Coolant Pipes ] Left Front Coolant Pipes.

- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

- Fill with coolant => [ Filling ] Procedures.
