External Audio Source Connection, MMI AMI
The external audio source connection (R199) (AMI) is located in the glove compartment.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Radio removal tool (T10057)
• Fiber optic plier repair set (VAS 6223)
• Protective cap for cable connector (VAS 6223/9)
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Remove the key.
- If control module is replaced, select replacement function for appropriate control module in guided fault finding routine.
Use the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051) to do so.
Removing
CAUTION!
The external audio source connection MOST bus lines are kept short.
Before removing the external audio source connection. disconnect the MOST BUS connector on the external audio source connection.
There is a service cover on the bottom side of the glove compartment for changing the climate control system pollen filter. The connectors on the external audio source connection can be disconnected when the service cover is removed.
If there is no service cover, the glove compartment must be removed.
The service cover - A - is secured with 4 retainers - C - to the bottom of the glove compartment - B -. The retainers may be difficult to loosen.
- Loosen the retainers - C - and remove the service cover - A -.
- Disconnect all connectors on the external audio source connection.
- Attach the (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - onto the MOST-Bus connector - 2 -.
- Open glove box.
- Insert the two clips of the (T10057) into the release slits on the external audio source connection until they engage. Points on the grip eyelets of tool face outward.
- Pull external audio source connection out of mounting frame.
- Remove the (T10057), push locking tabs on external audio source connection to do so.
removing the internal control unit
- Remove the screw - 2 - on back side (2 Nm).
- Press the tabs - 4 - and - 5 - down then up and remove the control unit from the frame - 1 -.
Installing
- Connect all harness connectors.
- Slide the external audio source connection on the mounting frame until it engages.
