Valve Body: Service and Repair
Mechatronic Unit
• Always replace mechatronics unit if it is dirty or faulty.

Removing
Observe procedures for disconnecting battery.
- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Remove oil pan => [ Oil Pan ] Service and Repair.
- Remove oil filter => [ ATF Filter ] Service and Repair.
- Disconnect electrical connection on transmission by turning screw connection counter-clockwise - arrow -.
• Always discharge static by touching a grounded object, e.g. vehicle ground, before touching or removing mechatronics unit.
• Connector terminals in connector must not be touched by hand under any circumstances because control module and therefore Mechatronic may be destroyed by static discharge.
- To discharge static, touch vehicle Ground (GND) with hand (without glove).
- Press tab - arrow 1 - and remove locking lever - arrow 2 -.
- Remove connector housing - arrow 3 -.
- Remove Mechatronic bolts in - 10 to 1 - sequence.
• Only bolts marked with - 10 to 1 - may be loosened.
• If other bolts are loosened, this may affect the function of the mechatronics unit or it may come apart.
- Remove Mechatronic from transmission.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

- Make sure that seal - B - is properly installed and secured.
• If Mechatronic is replaced, seal - B - must also be replaced.
- Set mechatronics unit in place without using force, and at the same time insert stud of selector lever - arrow - into groove of selector slide - A -; if necessary, move selector slide back or forth.
- Tighten bolts - 1 - and - 2 - for mechatronics unit to 2 Nm.
- Then tighten bolts to tightening torque in specified sequence - 1 to 10 -.
- Replace connector housing - A -.
- Lightly coat O-rings - 1 - and seals - 2 - on new connector housing - A - with ATF.
- Press connector housing - A - into transmission as far as stop - arrow 1 -, rotate slightly if necessary.
- Press locking lever into transmission - arrow 2 - and let it engage.
• The seal connector is then secured against falling out with a securing clip.
• If locking lever does not engage, lightly press or rotate connector housing.
- Install oil filter => [ ATF Filter ] Service and Repair.
- Install oil pan => [ Oil Pan ] Service and Repair.
- After installation, fill with ATF, check ATF level, and top off => [ Draining ATF and Filling After Repairs ] Draining ATF and Filling After Repairs.
- Observe measures to be taken after connecting battery.
