Fuel Rail and Injectors, for Cylinders 2, 4 and 6
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Puller (T10055)
• Tool set (T10133)
Removing
- Remove small left coolant pipe.
- Disconnect fuel pressure sensor (G247) electrical connector - 4 -.
There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under very high pressure.
• Before opening high pressure components of the fuel injection system, pressure must be relieved to residual pressure.
- Reduce fuel pressure in high pressure area => [ Releasing Fuel Pressure on High Pressure Side ] Service Precautions.
- Disconnect fuel line - 5 -.
- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove fuel rail from fuel injectors and intake manifold.
- Disconnect electrical connectors - 1, 2, 3 - on fuel injectors.
- Press O-ring upward by hand as shown in illustration and remove from fuel injector.
- Connect puller (T10055) with puller (T10133/15).
- Guide puller (T10133/15) into groove on fuel injector - arrow -.
- Remove fuel injector by carefully tapping.
• To improve clarity, the generator is removed.
Installing
• Tightening specifications => [ Fuel Rail and Injectors, Assembly Overview ] Fuel Rail and Injectors, Assembly Overview.
• Replace bolts which have been tightened to specification.
• Replace O-rings between fuel injector and fuel rail.
• Replace fuel injector spring elements.
- Clean fuel injector holes in cylinder head with nylon brush (T10133/4).
- Check support ring => [ (Item 24) Support ring ] Fuel Rail and Injectors, Assembly Overview, replace if damaged => [ Combustion Chamber Seal and Fuel Injector Support Ring ] Combustion Chamber Seal and Fuel Injector Support Ring.
- Replace combustion chamber seal => [ Combustion Chamber Seal and Fuel Injector Support Ring ] Combustion Chamber Seal and Fuel Injector Support Ring.
- Position spring element - 1 -, coat O-ring - 3 - with clean engine oil and position in front of support ring - 2 -.
• Combustion chamber seal - arrow - must not be coated with engine oil.
- Press fuel injector by hand into cylinder head as far as stop.
• Fuel injector electrical connector must engage in cut out in cylinder head.
- Press fuel rail evenly onto fuel injectors.
- Tighten fuel rail bolts and fuel line union nut by hand.
- Tighten fuel rail bolts from inside to outside.
- Tighten fuel line union nut.
The rest of installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
- Install small left coolant pipe.
- Install oil dipstick guide tube.
- Fill with coolant.
