Center and Rear Mufflers, Separating

• A separating point has been provided in the connecting pipe for individual replacement of the center or rear muffler

• The separating point is marked by a depression around circumference of exhaust pipe.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Chain pipe cutter (VAS 6254)

Procedure

- On a vehicle with air suspension, activate vehicle lift mode.

- Separate exhaust pipe at a right angle at separating point - arrows - using chain pipe cutter (VAS 6254).





- When installing, position clamping sleeves - arrows - centrally on separation point.





- Install left clamping sleeve so the threaded connections are at the left.





• Ends of bolts point down.

- Install right clamping sleeve so threaded connections are at top.

• Ends of bolts point toward right.

- Install exhaust system free of stress => [ Exhaust System, Installing ] Service and Repair.

- On a vehicle with air suspension, deactivate vehicle lift mode.
