After-Run Coolant Pump: Service and Repair






After-Run Coolant Pump

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose clamps up to 25 mm dia. (3094)

Hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1921)

Hose clamp pliers (VAS 6340)

Removing

Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.

When the engine is warm the cooling system is under pressure.

Reduce pressure by covering coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully opening.

- Open coolant reservoir cap.

- Disconnect vacuum hose - 1 -.





- Remove air guide pipe - arrows -.

- Disconnect electrical connector - arrow -.





Lay a cloth below to catch dripping coolant.

- Clamp off coolant hoses - 2 and 3 - using hose clamps (3094) and remove coolant hoses from after-run coolant pump (V51).

Ignore - 1 -.

- Spray rubber nubs - 2 and 4 - on after-run coolant pump (V51) retainer - 1 - with silicone free lubricating spray.





- Disengage rubber nubs from retainer - 3 - for after-run coolant pump (V51).

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

- Fill with coolant => [ Filling ] Service and Repair.
