Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pressure plate (VW 402)

• Punch (VW 412)

• Seal driver-front wheel bearing (40 - 20)

• Tube (2040)

• Tube (3146)

• Tube for wheel bearing (3345)

Removing large ball bearing (for the flange shaft/front driveshaft) from the housing





- Support transfer case housing by press too (3345) directly under the bearing mount.

Installing large ball bearing (for the flange shaft/front driveshaft) into the housing





- Support the transfer case housing with the 60 mm tube (3146) directly under the bearing mount.

Dimension - a - = 11 ± 0.5 mm

Breather installation position - A - on older transfer cases





On these transfer cases, the breather - A -, with the opening facing upward, is installed into the housing above the input shaft.
