Center and Rear Mufflers, Separating

A separating point has been provided in the connecting pipe for individual replacement of the center or rear muffler.

The separating point is marked by depressions around the circumference of the exhaust pipe.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Chain pipe cutter (VAS 6254)

Procedure

Vehicles with front wheel drive:

- Separate exhaust pipes at a right angle at separating point - arrows - using chain pipe cutter (VAS 6254).





- When installing, position clamping sleeves - arrows - centrally on separation point.





Vehicles with all wheel drive:

- Separate exhaust pipes at a right angle at separating point - arrows - using chain pipe cutter (VAS 6254).





• The middle of the 3 impressions on the exhaust pipe is the separating point.

- When installing, position clamping sleeves - 1 - and - 2 - centrally on separation point.





All:

- Install double clamps so that the bolt ends do not project over lower edge of double clamp.





• Threaded connections point toward outside.

- Align exhaust system. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Installing ] Exhaust System, Installing.

- Align rear muffler horizontally.
