Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview



Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051A, connecting and selecting functions

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system. VAS 5051A





^ Diagnostic lead VAS5051/1 or VAS5051/3

CAUTION:
^ Testers and measuring instruments are always to be attached to rear seat during test drive.
^ Only a passenger should operate this equipment during a road test.





- Connect diagnostic lead connector VAS5051/1 or VAS5051/3 at diagnostic connection - arrow -.





- Switch on tester - arrow -.

The tester is ready for operation when selector buttons for the operating modes appear on the screen.
- Switch on ignition.
- Press Guided Fault Finding button on the display screen.
- Select the following:
^ Make
^ Model
^ Model year
^ Version
^ Engine code letters

- Confirm entered information.

Wait until tester has interrogated all the control modules in the vehicle.
- Press Go to button and select the option Function/component selection.
- Select Suspension on display.
- Select Brake system on display.
- Select 01 - Self-diagnosis compatible systems.
- Select Anti-lock brake system on display.
- Select Function on display.

You will now see displayed all possible functions for the anti-lock brake system installed in the vehicle.
- Select the function you require on the display.
