Subframe, Engine Carrier and Stabilizer Bar Assembly Overview





1 Subframe

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Subframe ] Service and Repair.

2 Self Locking Nut

Always replace.

3 Guide Link

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Guide Link ] Guide Link.

Replace the hydraulic bushing if leaking. Refer to one of the following:

=> [ Guide Link Bushing, 65 mm ] Guide Link Bushing, 65 mm.

=> [ Guide Link Bushing, 75 mm ] Guide Link Bushing, 75 mm.

4 Bolt, 70 Nm + 180° additional turn

Always replace.

Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts.

5 Self Locking Nut, 120 Nm

Always replace.

If the guide link is not replaced, remove the locking compound from the ball joint threads first.

6 Subframe Support

7 Bolt, 50 Nm

8 Bolt, 150 Nm + 90° additional turn

Tighten in a diagonal sequence using, bolt - item 19 -.

Always replace.

The threaded plate in the body can be replaced.

9 Left Front Level Control System Sensor (G78) and Right Front Level Control System Sensor (G289)

Note that there are different versions with a "long" or "short" lever.

Only use the same version of the sensor. Do not install both versions together.

Only remove and install or replace completely. Refer to => [ Front Level Control System Sensor ] Level Control System.

The sensor lever must face forward.

10 Bolt, 5 Nm

11 Self Locking Nut, 70 Nm + 180° additional turn

Always replace.

12 Bolt

Always replace.

13 Bolt

Always replace.

14 Self Locking Nut, 8 Nm

Always replace.

15 Track Control Arm

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Track Control Arm ] Track Control Arm.

Bushing replacing, refer to => [ Track Control Arm Bushing ] Track Control Arm Bushing.

16 Self Locking Nut, 40 Nm + 90° additional turn

Always replace.

Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts.

17 Connecting Link

Right and left sides are the same.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Connecting Link ] Front Suspension.

18 Bolt, 40 Nm + 90° additional turn

Always replace.

Raise the wheel bearing housing before tightening. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts ] Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position to Tighten Bolts.

19 Bolt, 150 Nm + 90° additional turn

Tighten in a diagonal sequence, using bolt - item 8 -.

Always replace.

The threads in the body can be repaired using thread inserts made of wire according to DIN 8140 (Heli-Coil(R)). The thread insert must be the same length as the threads in the body. Refer to => [ Longitudinal Member Threads, Servicing ] Longitudinal Member Threads, Servicing.

20 Bolt, 38 Nm

Remove and install the 2 bolts evenly.

21 Stabilizer Bar

With cast rubber bushings and clamps.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Stabilizer Bar ] Stabilizer Bar.

Note the different suspension versions. Refer to => [ PR Number Explanations ] PR Number Explanations.

22 Bolt

Mounting on the body.

23 Engine Carrier

Removing and installing:

For the 4.2L and 5.2L engines, refer to, left and right engine mounts. Removal and Replacement

For the 6.0L engine, refer to, engine and transmission, separating. Engine and Transmission, Separating

24 Bolt

For the engine mount.

25 Washer

26 Self Locking Nut, 56 Nm

Always replace.

27 Cross Brace

Note the installed position: the outer semicircular opening must be at the top right.

28 Engine Mount

29 Bolt

30 Bolt, 10 Nm

31 Noise Insulation Bracket

Connecting Link Installed Position





The left and right connecting links are identical.

the arrow on the connecting link must face forward and must be visible from the outside.

This ensures that the larger diameter of the bushing sleeve lies on the stabilizer bar/track control arm.
