Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Valve -N112, checking
- Connect Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System VAS5051 or VAG 1551 Scan Tool and select engine electronics control module by entering address word "01", [1][2]Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks. When doing this the ignition must be switched on.
- Start output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) and activate secondary air injection valve, Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) (Function 03)

Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Valve -N112
The secondary air inlet valve should click.
If the secondary air inlet valve does not click:
- Disconnect 2-pin harness connector from solenoid valve.
- Connect VAG 1527 diode test lamp to disconnected connector using test leads from VAG 1594 connector test kit.
- Repeat DTM.
If the diode test lamp now blinks during the DTM:
- Replace secondary air injection valve.
If the diode test lamp still does not flash:
- Switch ignition off.
- Connect VAG 1598/31 test box to wiring harness for engine control unit. DO NOT connect to engine control module itself, Connecting VAG 1598/31 Test Box
- Check for open circuit in the following wiring connection:

Resistance in wiring: max. 1.5 ohm
If no malfunction in wire is detected:
- Test voltage supply to secondary air injection valve using wiring diagram.
- Display readiness code, Readiness Code Reading . Readiness code must be generated if DTC memory was erased, Readiness Code, Generating
