VAG 1551 Scan Tool Connecting




NOTE: The VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST) can be used instead of the VAG1551. However the VAG1552 scan tool does not have printing capabilities.


Test conditions
- Battery voltage at least 11 V
- Ground (GND) connections on engine and transmission OK
- Fuse OK







- Unclip cover for Data Link Connector (DLC), located under driver's side knee bar, behind steering wheel (left-side).
- Connect VAG1551 or VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST) with VAG1551/3 adapter cable to DLC.


NOTE: In older vehicles, the data link connector is in the center console near the ashtray.

1) Operating modes 1 and 2 are displayed alternately


NOTE: If the display remains blank: See Scan Tool operating instructions.


- Switch ignition on.
- Switch on printer by pressing PRINT button (indicator lamp in button lights up).
- Press button -1- to select "Rapid data transfer" operating mode 1.

NOTE: In "Rapid data transfer" operating mode 1 the "Automatic Test Sequence" function 00 can be carried out This checks the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory of all the vehicle control modules (that have OBD capabilities) automatically.
