Backup Lamp Switch: Service and Repair
Back-up (reversing) lamps switch

Removing the back-up lamp switch, gearbox M56
Ignition off
Remove the air cleaner (ACL) housing.
Remove the following items:
- the gear selector cables from the levers. 999 7077 Jimmy bar 999 7077 Jimmy Bar
- the gear selector cables from the brackets to prevent bending them when removing the lever.
Remove the following items:
- pin. 999 7221 Press tool 999 7221 Press Tool.
- the lever
Remove the following items:
- the connector from the back-up lamp switch.
- the back-up light switch. 999 5543 SOCKET NV-22 HO2S 999 5543 Socket NV-22 HO2S
Installation

Installing back-up (reversing) lamp switch
Install the new back-up light switch. 999 5543 SOCKET NV-22 HO2S 999 5543 Socket NV-22 HO2S Tighten to: 24 Nm.
Installing the connector
Pull out the secondary lock. 951 2853 Terminal removal tool 951 2853 Terminal Removal Tool.
Install the cables in the connector with the opening for the primary lock facing up as illustrated. Press in the secondary lock.
Joining cables
Splice the new connector with cables to the existing wiring. Joining cables
Installing the connector
Install the connector with the wiring on the back-up lamp switch. Install a tie-strap as illustrated so that the cable harness is not in contact with the gear selector cable.
Install the following items:
- transmission lever 999 7221 Press tool 999 7221 Press Tool to press in the pin
- the gear selector cables in the bracket
- selector cables to levers.
Install the air cleaner (ACL) housing.
Check the function.
