Condition




The Engine control module (ECM) checks the damper in the Variable Intake System(VIS) by regulating the valve for the damper's vacuum motor. The function of the system can be diagnosed by interpreting the signal from the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor.
A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects:
- That the damper for the variable intake system has jammed in the open position.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- The engine rpm is greater than a certain value.

- Damaged control valve.

- Damaged vacuum motor.
