Checking the function of the gear-shift position sensor




- Ignition on
- Read Geartronic status by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000.
- Depress the brake pedal. Move the gear selector lever to "MAN" (manual) and check that the status changes.
- Move the gear selector lever to +. Check that gear selection is updated in the display in the diagnostic tool as well as the display in the combined instrument panel.
- Move the gear selector lever to -. Check that the gear selection is updated.
If the gear selector lever position is not updated, replace the gear selector module (GSM).

- Ignition off
- Reinstall the components, reconnect the connectors etc.
- Ignition on
- Depress the brake pedal. Move the gear selector lever to "MAN" (manual).
- Move the gear selector lever to +. Check that gear selection is updated in the display in the combined instrument panel.
- Move the gear selector lever to -. Check that the gear selection is updated.
