Condition




The transmission control module (TCM) receives signal about input and output rpm from the transmission's two rpm sensors. For each gear there is a determined ratio and, using the signals, the control module calculates the transmission's gear ratio. If the transmission control module (TCM) registers that the gear ratio is in a gear ratio that is near (4%) that of any other gear than the gear selected by the control module, then diagnostic trouble code TCM-P073F00 is generated, or any of the diagnostic trouble codes TCM-P074x00, depending on the cause of the malfunction.
The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed at an oil temperature above +20 °C in the transmission as well as approx. 4% outside normal operating range of the gear in question.

Possible source
- Contact resistance or one of the solenoids has stuck in OFF or ON position.
- Mechanical faults in gearbox.

Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- General warning lamp lit
- Abnormally slipping gears.
- No gear changing.
