Checking the status




- Start and run the engine to operating temperature.
Check whether the fault is permanent or intermittent by reading off the signal from the fuel pressure sensor. Check that the value is within its permitted range. The value must be 480 ±5 kPa when idling, with the engine at operating temperature and in neutral. The pressure must drop with the ignition off.
The fault is permanent if the value is not within its permitted range. If the value is within its permitted range, this indicates that the fault is intermittent and not presently active.

- Ignition off
- Disconnect the engine control module (ECM).
Check the signal cable. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Take readings between control module terminal #A71 (#B11) and fuel pressure sensor terminal #4.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After repairing, it is necessary to check that the malfunction has been fixed.








- Ignition off
- Reconnect the connectors, components, etc.
- Start and warm up the engine.
- Read off the fuel pressure sensor's signal.
Check that the fuel pressure sensor's signal is correct. The value shall be 480 ± 5 kPa at idle, neutral and warm engine. The pressure shall drop at ignition off.
