ECM-U010100 Failed Communication With Transmission Control Module


Condition
The control modules transmit and receive information via a standardized serial communication method - CAN (Control Area Network). If engine control module (ECM) registers a communication malfunction between transmission control module (TCM) and engine control module (ECM), the diagnostic trouble code is stored in engine control module (ECM).

- Nothing.

Possible Source
- Open circuit on one of the CAN-cables.
- Short-circuit between the control area network (CAN) wiring.
- Internal malfunction in engine control module (ECM).
- Internal malfunction in another control module in the same part of the CAN-network.

Fault Symptom[s]
- Harsh shifting.
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
