Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

ECM-P170900 Parking/Neutral Position Switch Outside Self - Test Range

Condition

Engine control module (ECM) checks the signals for the gear position sensor's position, the signal via direct-connected cable from the transmission control module (TCM) and the signal via CAN-communication from the transmission control module (TCM).

If the transmission control module (TCM) detects a malfunction of the gear position selector, then information about this is sent via CAN-communication to the engine control module (ECM) and the diagnostic trouble code is stored.

If engine control module (ECM) detects difference between the signals via CAN-communication and the signal via direct-connected cable, the diagnostic trouble code is generated.

The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.
