Checking Components And Wiring







HINT: Knock sensor 1detects knocking on cylinders 5, 6, 7 and 8. Knock sensor 2 detects knocking on cylinders 1, 2, 3 and 4.

- Ignition off
- Disconnect the engine control module (ECM).

Check the signal cable (+) between the control module and the connector of the relevant knock sensor for short-circuit to ground.

Measure between:
- Control module terminal #A43 (#A43) and knock sensor bank 1 terminal #2, (ECM-P032700).
- Control module terminal #A42 (#A42) and knock sensor bank 2 terminal #2, (ECM-P033200).

Check the signal cable (-) between the control module and the connector of the relevant knock sensor for short-circuit to ground.

Measure between:
- Control module terminal #A20 (#A20) and knock sensor bank 1 terminal #1, (ECM-P032700).
- Control module terminal #A19 (#A19) and knock sensor bank 2 terminal #1, (ECM-P033200).

Remedy as necessary.
