Starting/Charging - No Crank/No Start/No Charge/No Idle

Starter and Charging System Malfunction on V8 engines
REFERENCE: VADIS / VIDA repair instructions
DESCRIPTION:
Symptoms may include intermittent starter or charging system operation, no crank/no start, no charging or loss of idle
SERVICE:
If during fault tracing the B+ cable terminal nut is found to be loose, install a new self locking nut p/n 985868
^ Disconnect the negative battery terminal
^ Remove the tape holding the two terminals together and assure that the terminals are aligned in such a way that they are flat to each other and the contact surface of the starter post when tightened. Ensure that they do not interfere or contact any other cables or components.
Tighten the new self locking nut to 11.8 Nm (8.7 ft/lbs)
^ Secure the alternator B+ and the Battery cable to each other using a cable tie assuring the engine movement will not vibrate the cables loose again.
^ Reinstall the protective cap on the starter B+ post
