Condition
Information about the brake pedal position is transmitted on the controller area network (CAN) from the brake control module (BCM) to the engine control module (ECM).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if communication between the brake control module (BCM) and the engine control module (ECM) is missing.
The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

Substitute value
- Cruise control turned off when the fault is active.

Possible source
- Open-circuit in the control area network (CAN) wiring.
- Short-circuit between the control area network (CAN) wiring.
- Internal fault in brake control module (BCM).
- Internal fault in the engine control module (ECM).
- Internal fault in another control module in the same part of the control area network (CAN).

Fault symptom[s]
- Cruise control does not function at all.
- Message in the display.
