Fault-Tracing

Fault-tracing ECM-P200400

Checking the component and wiring
Check the function of the control valve (2) by activating it. The valve should click on activation.
Connect a vacuum pump to the control valve's terminal (for hose connected to the intake manifold) and pump to create a vacuum. Listen for leakage and check the pump's gauge for stable pressure. If the pressure drops, this means a leaking valve.
Check that the dampers (4) can move freely and that nothing is obstructing them.

Hint: Check the function by pumping a vacuum to the vacuum motor.

Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.

- Ignition off
- Reconnect the connectors, components, etc.
- Start the engine.
- Test drive the car on the road with smooth acceleration so that the engine speed (rpm) exceeds 3500 rpm. Repeat the procedure a couple of times so that the engine control module (ECM) can carry out diagnostics.
- Connect VCT2000 to the data link connectorwithout switching off the engine.
- Read the diagnostic status and fault status for the diagnostic trouble code by selecting the diagnostic trouble code in the list.

Note! If the engine is switched off, the stored fault status will be erased and the test drive will have to be repeated.

Check the fault status for the diagnostic trouble code when the scan is "Implemented". When the function is correct the fault status should be "No fault found" when the scan is implemented.

Is the function OK?
