Checking components and wiring
Hint: If diagnostic trouble code for gear position sensor is stored in transmission control module (TCM), then troubleshoot this diagnostic trouble code first.
- Check transmission control module (TCM) connector for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the signal cable for open circuit, short-circuit to voltage and short-circuit to ground.
Measure between engine control module (ECM) #B15 (#C15) and transmission control module (TCM) #5.
Remedy as necessary.
Hint: Read off the gear position sensor's signals by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Reconnect the connectors, components, etc.
- Ignition on
- Read off the gear position sensor's signals.
Check that the gear position sensor's signals are correct.
Signal via direct-connected cable and signal via CAN-communication shall match each other as well as with selected gear position.
