Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

ECM-P213500 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Contact A/B Voltage Correlation

Condition

The engine control module (ECM) receives a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal and an analog signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor. In a fault-free system, the analog signal is used to determine the position of the accelerator pedal (AP).

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers that the signals deviate too much from each other.

The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

Substitute Value
- Acceleration is ignored when braking.
- The lowest value input signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor is used.

Possible Source
- Loose connections or contact resistance in the connections on the analog signal cable.
- Fault in the power supply to the analog signal.
- Fault in the analog signal ground.
- Fault in the pulse width modulation (PWM) signal between the engine control module (ECM) and the electronic throttle module (ETM).
- Damaged accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor.

Fault Symptom[s]
- Message in the display.
- Poor response from the accelerator pedal.
- Accelerator pedal (AP) is ignored when braking.
- Maximum vehicle speed reduced.
