Engine control module (ECM) checks the signal for controlling the A/C relay. If engine control module (ECM) detects a signal that is too high, the control module interprets this as a malfunction and the diagnostic trouble code is generated.

The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

- The signal cable is short-circuited to voltage.
- Damaged air conditioning (A/C) relay.
