Checking The Fuel Tank System Through Pressurization And Soapy Water







WARNING: First read: Safety regulations for handling fuel

HINT: The fault could be caused by leakage in the tank, filler pipe, tank cap, canister, EVAP valve, leakage diagnosis unit or hoses between these components.

- Ignition off

Pressurize the tank system to find the leak.

Test pressurizing the tank system

When the tank system is pressurized:

Check the tank system for leaks by spraying soapy water on tank system components such as the tank, filler pipe, tank cap, EVAP valve, canister and hoses/hose connections between these components.

Remedy as necessary.

Fit the components, hoses, etc.

If no leak is detected in the tank system after the aforementioned check/remedy, but the quick test of the fuel tank system indicates that the fault remains, the problem might be a damaged leakage diagnosis unit.

Perform the quick test of the fuel tank system after the aforementioned check/remedy to check if the fault remains.
