Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

ECM-P036500 Camshaft Position Sensor B Circuit (Bank 1)

Condition

The camshaft is divided into a number of segments (flanks). The camshaft houses a gearwheel with a number of teeth (the teeth are positioned between each segment) that are read by the engine control module (ECM) via the camshaft position sensor. The diagnostic trouble code is generated if the control module detects too few segments for a certain number of crankshaft revolutions.

The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed by the control module when the engine is running and engine speed exceeds a certain value.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) corresponds to exhaust camshaft position (CMP) sensor, bank 1.

Substitute Value
- Engine speed sensor signal.

Possible Source
- Open-circuit on the signal cable.
- The signal cable is short-circuited to ground.
- The signal cable is short-circuited to voltage.
- Damaged mass air flow sensor.

Fault Symptom[s]
- Nothing.
