Checking Components And Wiring

HINT: Knock sensor 1detects knocking on cylinders 5, 6, 7 and 8. Knock sensor 2 detects knocking on cylinders 1, 2, 3 and 4.

- Ignition off

Check the connector of the knock sensor to which the diagnostic trouble code refers for contact resistance and oxidation.

Disconnect the engine control module (ECM).

Check the signal cable (+) between the control module and the connector of the knock sensor to which the diagnostic trouble code refers for open-circuit and short-circuit to supply voltage.

Measure between:
- Control module terminal #A43 (#A43) and knock sensor bank 1 terminal #2, (ECM-P032800).
- Control module terminal #A42 (#A42) and knock sensor bank 2 terminal #2, (ECM-P033300).

Check the signal cable (-) between the control module and the connector of the knock sensor to which the diagnostic trouble code refers for open-circuit and short-circuit to supply voltage.

Measure between:
- Control module terminal #A20 (#A20) and knock sensor bank 1 terminal #1, (ECM-P032800).
- Control module terminal #A19 (#A19) and knock sensor bank 2 terminal #1, (ECM-P033300).

Remedy as necessary.
