Checking Components and Wiring

Checking Components And Wiring

HINT: Engine cylinders are counted starting from the right-hand side of the vehicle, that is to say the cylinder farthest from the engine flywheel.

- Bank 1 (cylinder row nearest the front): cylinders 1, 3, 5 and 7.
- Bank 2 (cylinder row furthest to the rear, nearest the passenger compartment): cylinders 2, 4, 6 and 8.

HINT: If the engine does not start or if diagnostic trouble codes are stored for all the injectors, check the fuse. If the fuse is blown, check the circuit for short-circuit to supply voltage.

- Check the resistance of the injector to which the diagnostic trouble code refers.
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the engine control module (ECM).

Check for contact resistance and oxidation on the injector connector to which the diagnostic trouble code refers.

Check the power cable for open-circuit. Measure between the system relay and terminal #2 of the injector to which the diagnostic trouble code refers.

Check the power cable to which the diagnostic trouble code refers for open-circuit as well as short-circuit to supply voltage and ground.

Measure between:
- Control module terminals #A79 (#B19) and #1 for injector 1 (ECM-P020100).
- Control module terminals #A78 (#B18) and #1 for injector 2 (ECM-P020200).
- Control module terminals #A81 (#B21) and #1 for injector 3 (ECM-P020300).
- Control module terminals #A80 (#B20) and #1 for injector 4 (ECM-P020400).
- Control module terminals #A83 (#B23) and #1 for injector 5 (ECM-P020500).
- Control module terminals #A82 (#B22) and #1 for injector 6 (ECM-P020600).
- Control module terminals #A85 (#B25) and #1 for injector 7 (ECM-P020700).
- Control module terminals #A84 (#B24) and #1 for injector 8 (ECM-P020800).

Activate the injector by clicking the VCT2000 symbol. The injector should make a clicking noise upon activation.

Remedy as necessary.
