Checking Components
Checking Components
HINT: Incorrect function on the camshaft reset valve is probably the cause of this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) if:
- The adaption value and camshaft shift angle are correct in the previous check (intermittent fault).
- The adaption value is correct but the camshaft shift angle is incorrect in the previous check.
HINT: Contaminants in the engine oil can damage components in the camshaft control which can cause function faults.
Check the engine oil grade. Check especially for contaminants.
Check the default settings of the camshafts.
Remove the camshaft reset valve, check the reset valve and the oil ducts in the cylinder head. Check for contaminants and blockages.
Try a new camshaft reset valve if no fault is found or if the above remedies do not rectify the fault.
HINT: The fault can also be caused by a damaged variable valve timing (VVT) unit.
Remedy as necessary.
