Checking the winter mode




- Ignition on
- Go into scrolling values.
Read off the status of the Winter (W) mode selector. The value should be OFF with the button up and ON with the button down.





Are the correct values displayed?

Yes - No Fault Found

No - Checking the cable and component

- Ignition off
- Remove the Winter (W) mode selector from the center console according to Replacing the panel with integrated winter mode switch, AW55-50/51SN Replacing The Panel With Integrated Winter Mode Switch.
Check that the mode selector W button does not stick.
Connect an ohmmeter between mode selector connector terminals #2 and #3. The ohmmeter must show infinite resistance with the W button released and approximately 0 ohms with the W button depressed.
Check the cable between the mode selector connector terminal #2 and control module terminal #37. Check for an open-circuit and contact resistance according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.

Hint: After repairs have been completed, they must be verified as follows to ensure that the fault has been eliminated:








- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Click on the VCT2000 symbol to read off the mode selector status.

The status must be OFF with the button unaffected and change to ON when the button is pressed.
